Restoring the Mesa in review 2018

The Stewards and thousands of volunteers continue our mission to restore Bolsa Chica.  In 2018 our new Growing Space successfully started propagating hundreds of new native plants for the Mesa.  Coastal Sage scrub, cactus, bunch grasses and wildflowers – all native and all critically important to a healthy ecosystem.  Several times a week our crew tends to all of the saplings, nurturing the next generation.  In addition, this autumn and winter, thousands of native plants grown for us will be brought in from Tree of Life Nursery and will increase the acres of thriving native habitat at Bolsa Chica.

In 2018 we have had volunteers from 12 surrounding cities, 9 different high schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the National Charity League, community groups and corporate partners.  We also have many individual volunteers from our community who love to come out and help.  Please join us for some rewarding fun in the dirt, every 1st Sunday and 3rd Saturday of the month.  Check our website for details.

Many thanks to the Arconic Foundation and the Henry & Ellen Warne Family Fund/Orange County Community Foundation for significant funding of the Growing Space and all of our restoration efforts.
